A Whale and a Tale

There is a list in my head of places I want to go before I die but I never write them down.  The year before was a tough one for me with death, illness and natural disasters like Super Storm Sandy.  It felt like a movie of the week except it wasn’t.  It was March..

The family suggested that we take a trip somewhere warm like the Caribbean but as I gazed at the empty oxygen tanks in the corner of the living room; I realized that a Summer in the Islands was a bad idea.  Instead what was needed was clean air and cool breezes so I thought, Alaska.

Roughing it was out of the question so for the first time in a long time we broke the budget and took a cruise.  Despite the strain of the voyage, it was the worth the trip.  The air was clear, the wildlife was real and the smiles on our faces were a welcome change.
