Birds in Paradise

With all the talk on the news about wild coyotes, racoons, possums and bears crossing the barriers into the city, we forget that birds have been doing that for centuries.  European Starlings and Sparrows are just two who have learned to adapt to an urban environment.  The Cornell lab of Ornithology has a great homepage that has fun tips, videos, and links for children and adults plus a free app that can be downloaded to your iphone, ipad, and android devices called Merlin Bird ID. Individuals can keep count of the bird populations by logging into their site or using their app.  It is fun, free, and keeps the kids busy long enough to get the adults hooked into birding.  I should know.
